South Korean Actor Yoo Ah In Avoids Jail Time in Drug Abuse Conviction

Yoo Ah In has received a suspended prison sentence following charges related to habitual drug use.

On Thursday, South Korea’s Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling sentencing Yoo Ah In to one year in prison, suspended for two years, along with a fine of 2 million KRW (approximately 1,470 USD). The court found him guilty of violating the country’s Narcotics Control Act.

Caught Using Marijuana in Los Angeles, Actor Allegedly Pressured Others to Join In

Yoo Ah In was indicted for using the powerful anesthetic propofol 181 times between 2020 and 2022. He also faced charges for illegally obtaining 44 prescriptions for sleeping pills under other people’s names during the same period.

In a separate incident in January 2023, while staying at a residence in Los Angeles, Yoo Ah In was reportedly caught on video smoking marijuana by a YouTuber in his group. After the footage surfaced, Yoo Ah In allegedly pressured the individual to smoke marijuana as well, apparently in an attempt to make them an accomplice.
