Man Gets Stuck in Canyon — Says His Belly Nearly Caught Fire

James Yoo Views

Visitors are warned that the canyon’s tight passage may pose risks for those with broader body sizes.

An overweight Chinese man nearly set his belly on fire while attempting to squeeze through a narrow canyon.

According to Bastille Post, an online media outlet, the incident occurred on Saturday in Yixiantian, a famous tourist attraction in Fujian Province. The man became wedged in the tight passageway of the scenic canyon, blocking it entirely with his body.

The canyon is known for its narrow path, but it is typically wide enough for most visitors to pass through, making it a popular destination for those wanting to experience nature up close.

However, this particular man, whose abdominal obesity was extreme, attempted to force his way into the gap and ended up stuck tightly between the cliff walls.

The man asked for help with a distressed expression, but the passage was too narrow for others to reach or assist him.

He eventually managed to wriggle free by pushing himself inch by inch, and other tourists waiting behind him could also exit the area shortly afterward.

Fortunately, the man emerged from the canyon without serious injury, resolving the blockage. However, his belly was badly scraped and reddened by friction with the rock walls.

Once out, the man removed his shirt and showed his reddened abdomen to the camera, saying it felt like it was about to catch fire.

Regarding the bizarre incident, staff at the tourist site explained that they inform visitors with atypical body types that they may get stuck in the middle of the canyon.

However, they added that no one had ever failed to exit once they had entered. The staff assured that visitors can make it through safely if they maintain the proper posture.
