A Dream Come True for Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe

“Finally, my long-time dream has come true.”

Kylian Mbappe has completed his much-anticipated transfer to Real Madrid.

On June 4 (KST), Champions League Winner Real Madrid announced on their website, “We have agreed to sign a contract with Mbappe. He will play for Real Madrid for the next five years.”

Real Madrid stated, “We have reinforced our squad by signing Mbappe, who scored his career-best 44 goals last season at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France and has won the top scorer title six times.”

Despite being the most valuable soccer player in the world, he transferred as a free agent(FA) without a transfer fee and will now play for Real Madrid until the 2028-29 season.

After Real Madrid’s official announcement, Mbappe posted on his social media, “My dream has finally come true. I’m proud and thrilled to join my dream team, Real Madrid.”

He expressed his excitement, saying, “No one can understand how thrilled I am right now. I’m looking forward to the day I meet Real Madrid fans.”

Mbappe posted a photo of himself visiting the training ground wearing Real Madrid’s training kit. There was also a picture taken with Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr), who he considers as his idol.

The details of the contract, excluding its terms, were not disclosed. Local media speculate that his annual salary is approximately $16 million and the signing bonus is around $163 million.

Meanwhile, Mbappe joined PSG back in 2017 after leaving AS Monaco. He has recorded 256 goals and 108 assists in a total of 308 games. He has won the league 6 times, the Coupe de France 4 times, and the Trophee des Champions (Super Cup) 3 times.

He also won the top-scorer title 6 times. He originally planned to move after the 2022-23 season but extended the contract with PSG by one year, playing for one more season.

PSG did not pay the bonus of around $86 million they promised to Mbappe.
