Yulhee, a former member of the girl group LABOUM, has candidly shared her experiences surrounding her divorce from Choi Minhwan, a member of the band FT Island. Since their separation, both have been increasingly active in the entertainment scene, which has led to renewed tensions between them.
On Thursday, Yulhee released a 37-minute untitled video on her YouTube channel, Yulhee’s House. In the video, she expressed her uncertainty about discussing the responsibilities or faults related to the divorce, stating, “I’m still contemplating whether it’s right to bring this up,” but added, “There was an incident about a year before the divorce that completely changed our married life.”
She shared, “I was fine with parenting challenges and occasional arguments. I even enjoyed living with my extended family. However, after that incident, I began to resent living in that house, and it became painful to interact with family members.”
Yulhee described, “Before that incident, Minhwan would touch my body in front of family members or stuff money in my chest.” She added, “When we played Go-Stop with the family, my ex-husband would fold the money he won and tuck it into the chest area of my pajamas when no one was watching.”
Reflecting on the audio recordings she released, Yulhee remarked, “At that age, how would I know about such places? I later realized that this kind of drunken behavior was a pattern. The pieces of the puzzle started to fit together. He would touch me inappropriately while his parents were present.”
At the end of the video, she shared several audio recordings from July and August 2022. The recordings included a voice believed to be Minhwan’s engaging in conversations with another man that hinted at questionable activities.
In a recording from August 14, 2022, at 3 AM, the man is heard saying, “I want to go out. They say there are no girls at that place. ” He asks, “I understand about being seated, but what’s the main cost?” On another occasion, he inquires, “It seems there are really no girls here today. There probably aren’t any elsewhere either, right?”
Their conversations frequently included terms related to adult entertainment venues.
Yulhee also explained her decision to relinquish custody of their three children: “Despite my feelings of anger and resentment towards his actions, he hasn’t done anything wrong as a father. They have a home, an extended family, and the children are happy with this lifestyle.”
She seems to have created this video in response to a surge of negative comments online, fueled by rumors about her being responsible for the divorce and various speculations regarding custody. As of 8 AM on Friday, Minhwan’s representatives had not yet issued a statement.
