G-Dragon, who enlisted in the military at the relatively late age of 31, recently shared a humorous story about how he used his celebrity status to navigate army life.

On Wednesday, G-DRAGON appeared on episode 267 of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, which featured a special segment titled Power.

During the show, Yoo Jae Suk recalled, “GD suddenly called me while he was in the military. He sounded completely different from the GD I knew—more like a familiar younger brother.”

Yoo continued, “Jiyong said, ‘How are you? I have a favor to ask. My junior soldiers are huge fans of yours. Could you please talk to them on the phone?’ It seems GD, a sergeant at the time, wanted to impress his juniors with his connections.

Yoo Jae Suk gladly obliged and spoke with GD’s junior soldiers. He laughed, saying, “I thought, ‘Jiyong has really adapted to military life!'”

He also showed affection, stating, “If the younger guys say they miss me, I’ll take GD’s calls even in the middle of the night.”

G-Dragon enlisted on February 27, 2018, at the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division’s Baekho Unit in Cheorwon, South Korea. He completed his mandatory service and was discharged on October 26, 2019.

Despite enlisting later, G-Dragon made headlines for blending in seamlessly with his much younger peers during his service.
