Truth Behind Han So Hee’s Age: A Mother’s Scandal Exposed

Michelle Kang Views

Actress Han So Hee, previously believed to be born in 1994, has now been confirmed actually to be a year older, born in 1993.

According to her agency, 9Ato Entertainment, on Friday, Han So Hee’s profile incorrectly listed her birth year as 1994. The agency has since clarified that she was born in 1993.

A heartbreaking family story explains why Han felt compelled to misrepresent her age. Her agency stated, “When Han So Hee was in the fourth grade, she had to move to Ulsan due to her mother’s legal issues.”

As a result, Han spent a year out of school and was confined to her home. After her mother’s incarceration, she returned to Wonju and re-enrolled in fourth grade.

Han So Hee’s Lost Year: A Consequence of Family Turmoil

This unexpected hiatus in Han’s education explains why she ended up in the same grade as those born in 1994 despite being a year older. The actress essentially repeated a year due to circumstances beyond her control.

Han So Hee’s mother has a history of legal troubles, including fraud and debt issues. On September 2, it was reported that prosecutors had arrested her mother on charges of running an illegal gambling operation.

She allegedly operated twelve illegal gambling venues in Ulsan and Wonju, using a lead to conceal her involvement from 2021 until the end of October.

Han’s mother had previously been fined for similar charges and has been the subject of multiple lawsuits for fraud and other offenses.

In response to the situation, Han So Hee’s agency issued an official statement, saying, “Han So Hee was devastated to learn about this train; we want to clarify if, once again, this incident entirely related to her mother’s independent actions and has nothing to do with the actress herself.”

This isn’t the first time Han’s mother has been involved in controversy. In 2020, she was accused of disappearing with funds from a savings group.

More recently, in 2022, she was sued for failing to repay a loan of 85 million won (approximately $61,640) borrowed under Han So Hee’s name.
