On Tuesday, T1 officially shared a team photo on their social media featuring Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung Min, wearing his team’s uniform and posing alongside the esports squad.
The moment comes just days after T1 claimed victory in the 2024 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) final against BLG, securing a 3-2 sin at London’s O2 Arena. This victory marked T1’s second consecutive world title, continuing their dominance in esports.
Rather than returning to South Korea immediately after their championship triumph, the T1 squad extended their stay in London with a special: to see their idol, Son Heung Min, in action at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The visit was a perfect follow-up to the pre-tournament support videos the esports stars had sent to the soccer legend, the soccer ace.
T1’s support player, Keria (Ryu Min Seok), previously expressed his excitement about the trip, saying, “I’ve always wanted to visit a soccer stadium in London. Thanks to Tottenham’s invitation, it looks like we’ll finally get to watch a match live.”
In a video released by Riot Games, Son also admired Faker, saying, “For me, Faker is the greatest player in esports history. I hope he can keep up his incredible performance for the next decade. He’s truly the best.”
The moment Son and Faker finally met was filled with smiles. The T1 roster, including coach Im Jae Hyeon (Tom), Keria (Ryu Min Seok), Gumayusi (Lee Min Hyeong), Oner (Moon Hyeon Jun), and Zeus (Choi Woo Je), gathered around the two icons in a joyful celebration.
Wearing Tottenham jerseys signed by Son, the T1 players couldn’t contain their excitement, flashing thumbs-up for the cameras.
Son and Faker are two of Korea’s most globally recognized sports figures. Son has cemented his legacy as the premier Asian player in top-tier soccer, most recently claiming the prestigious English Premier League Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer.
Faker, meanwhile, is widely regarded as the greatest professional gamer in esports history. In 2024, he made history by winning his fifth League of Legends World Championship title, an unprecedented achievement in the esports world.
This legendary meeting was reportedly arranged at Son Heung Min’s suggestion, as he is an avid fan of League of Legends.
