Sunwoo of The Boyz has been assaulted by an obsessive fan, prompting a strong response from his agency.
On Thursday, IST Entertainment, the agency representing the K-pop group The Boyz, confirmed that a stalker who trespassed into Sunwoo’s residence and assaulted him was arrested on the spot.
According to IST Entertainment, the incident occurred on Saturday when Sunwoo returned home after completing his schedule. As he exited the elevator and was about to enter his apartment, a fan hiding in the building’s emergency stairwell approached him.
Feeling threatened, Sunwoo immediately contacted a staff member, who managed to apprehend the intruder and hand them over to the authorities.
During the altercation, Sunwoo was physically assaulted. The agency stated that while attempting to restrain the fleeing fan, Sunwoo was struck multiple times. The perpetrator was arrested for trespassing and assault and is currently under police investigation.
IST Entertainment reported that Sunwoo and the staff members sought medical attention at a nearby hospital immediately after the incident. “We are prioritizing Sunwoo’s health and well-being, conducting regular check-ups, and taking the necessary precautions to ensure his safety moving forward,” the agency added.
Tracking Device Found on Artist’s Vehicle, Tires Deliberately Damaged
In an even more alarming development, it was revealed that a tracking device had been attached to Sunwoo’s vehicle, which was parked outside the company’s building. Additionally, there were signs of deliberate damage to the tires of another car.
The agency confirmed that they quickly became aware of both incidents and took swift action before Sunwoo’s scheduled activities to prevent further harm. IST Entertainment has secured CCTV footage and filed police reports to avoid such incidents from happening again.
IST Entertainment emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward privacy violations and illegal activities. “We will take all necessary legal action in response to these incidents. Given the increasing severity of these violations of our artists’ rights, we continuously gather evidence and review materials from our legal team. We want to clarify that there will be no leniency or settlements in this matter,” the agency stated.
The Boyz, a 10-member boy group that debuted in December 2017, has gained a large following with hit songs like “The Stealer,” “Reveal,” and “Roar.” The group recently released its ninth mini-album, Fuse, in October.
