Kim Taehyung, better known as V from the global K-pop sensation BTS, has shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of his cherished dog, Yeontan.
On Monday, V took to Instagram to announce that Yeontan had recently “embarked on a long journey to the dog star.” In his post, he expressed the difficulty of sharing the news but felt it was important to let his fans, ARMY, learn about the loss.
V wrote, “I’m posting this today because Yeontan recently embarked on a long journey to the dog star. I struggled a lot about how to share this, but I thought it was right to let the ARMY, who have shown so much love, know about it.”
He continued with a heartfelt message: “I would be grateful if you could remember Yeontan sometimes so he can be happy even in the stars. I hope this year-end is warm enough for you to tell your loved ones that you love them one more time. Stay healthy until the day we meet again.”
V, Known for His Deep Love for Dogs, Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Yeontan
V, who has long been known as one of the entertainment industry’s most devoted pet owners, has always shared a deep affection for his dog, Yeontan. In his emotional post, he uploaded several photos of Yeontan, with one captioned “Kim Yeontan ♥,” which tugged at the heartstrings of fans.
V’s love for his pet is well-known among his global fanbase. His Naver profile even includes a special section dedicated to Yeontan, listing him as Dog Kim Yeontan (Pomeranian), a unique gesture highlighting their special bond. Fans have always admired V’s commitment and love for his furry companion.
In September 2023, V featured Yeontan on the cover of his debut solo album Layover, a touching tribute to their close relationship.
During V’s first performance of “Slow Dancing” on Mnet’s M Countdown, he made a memorable appearance with Yeontan, delighting fans and creating a special moment for V and his audience.
Fans worldwide have expressed condolences on social media, with comments such as, “Yeontan must have had a happy life with V,” and “Yeontan, I hope you’re healthy and not in pain where you are. ” Others noted how difficult it must be for V to cope with the loss while away on military service: “It must be even harder for V since he’s unable to be by Yeontan’s side while serving in the military.”
V enlisted in the South Korean Army in December 2023 and currently serves in the Military Police Unit at the 2nd Army Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. His discharge is scheduled for June 10, 2025.
Despite his military duties, V continues to share his music with fans. On November 29, 2023, he released a new digital single, “Winter Ahead,” in collaboration with his close friend, singer Park Hyo Shin.
