NewJeans recently gave an exclusive interview to Japanese media about its rebranding as NJZ and upcoming solo activities.

During the conversation, Hanni explained the significance of announcing the new name on February 7, revealing, “Our debut date is July 22, and February 7 felt like a perfect match, almost like a mirror image.” She added, “I wanted our activities as NJZ to be fun, so I thought it was the perfect day to make the announcement.”

Danielle also gave a shoutout to its fanbase, the Bunnies, saying, “Some fans started calling us BNZ, and I think that’s so fun, clever, and awesome!” Hanni joined in, saying, “We shared the nickname with our fans, just like close friends would, and it’s so cute and fun.”

Despite ongoing contract disputes with ADOR, NewJeans clarified that they are committed to continuing its independent activities.

Minji shared her thoughts in Japanese, stating, “There are very few media outlets in Korea that are giving us coverage right now, but we’re not discouraged. We will keep pushing forward, enjoying what we do, and never giving up.”

Hyein also expressed her excitement about its upcoming plans, adding, “We have activities lined up in Japan, and I’m really looking forward to spending lots of fun time with our Bunnies.”

Earlier this month, on February 7, NewJeans revealed its new team name, NJZ, and announced its plans for independent activities. They also rebranded their social media accounts, switching from jeanzforfree to njz_official, marking the beginning of their journey as NJZ.

In addition, NJZ confirmed they will perform at the global street fashion and culture festival ComplexCon in Hong Kong from March 21 to 23. This will mark its first official stage as NJZ.
