MBC’s new variety show, Good Day, premiered on Sunday. It highlights the growing friendship between two 1988-born celebrities: singer G-Dragon and actor Kim Soo Hyun.
The episode showcased G-Dragon meeting Kim Soo Hyun alongside comedian Jo Se Ho and producer Code Kunst.
On their way to meet Kim Soo Hyun, Jo Se Ho teased, “I wanted to introduce Ji Yong to a good friend today,” hinting at an actor born in 1988 before their arrival.
Upon reaching Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, the sleek and modern facilities impressed the trio.
Kim Soo Jyun welcomed the group to his gym and showed them some of his favorite workout equipment. The group had a blast trying out boxing mitts and punching bags.
G-Dragon, clearly enjoying the moment, said, “I’ve never felt this close to someone through working out before.”
Code Kunst noted the natural connection between the two and expressed his surprise. Afterward, the group moved to the office’s cafeteria, where they toasted with iced coffee that Kim Soo Hyun had personally served.
Kim Soo Hyun said he felt honored to be invited to appear on Good Day, sharing, “I accepted right away because I saw it as a privilege.” He also revealed he’s a BIGBANG fan and opened up about how deeply moved he was by the recent MAMA performance.
G-Dragon also mentioned watching every episode of Kim Soo Hyun’s hit drama Queen of Tears.
Since both were born in 1988, the duo bonded over mutual celebrity friends of the same age, such as Jung Hae In, Yim Si Wan, and Lee Soo Hyuk.
When the topic of Hwang Kwang Hee came up, G-Dragon shared that Kwang Hee is surprisingly shy. In response, Kim Soo Hyun explained, “I’m a bit reserved too, but if you tell people to speak casually, it makes things easier,” and then asked Jo Se Ho to drop the formalities with him.

Jo Se Ho playfully replied, “Alright, Soo Hyun, let’s be friends,” while Code Kunst, a year younger, also showed affection by calling him “Soo Hyun Bro,” further solidifying the friendly vibe.
G-Dragon, who had been a bit hesitant, extended his hand and said, “Soo Hyun, let’s drop the formalities,” Kim Soo Hyun gladly accepted, closing the gap between them with a handshake.
G-Dragon then praised Kim Soo Hyun, saying, “He’s surprisingly easy to connect with and very down-to-earth,” before embracing him as a new friend.
Next week’s episode promises even more excitement, as other 1988-born celebrities, including Jung Hae In, Yim Si Wan, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Hwang Kwang Hee, will join the show, sparking even more anticipation from viewers.
