BTS member V recently gave fans a glimpse into his life during his military service, sparking excitement from the global ARMY.
On Sunday, V posted a heartwarming update on his official Instagram: “Reporting for duty as Private Kim! D-107 and counting. As the harsh winter fades, I’m getting ready for the warmth of spring. I’ll stay healthy and can’t wait to see you all soon!”
V shared a few casual photos that set social media ablaze along with the message. The pictures revealed his impressive physical transformation, showing off a more muscular build, which had fans raving.
Before his enlistment, V set an ambitious goal of gaining 24 kg (53 pounds), which he seems to have achieved.
One standout photo featured V with his close friend, renowned singer Park Hyo Shin. In a series of four shots, the two struck playful poses, showing off their close friendship and genuine chemistry.
Fans flooded the comments with reactions, saying things like, “Handsome as always!” and “From heartthrob to total hunk!” Other fans said, “How can he be so cool yet still so adorable?” and “Stay healthy, V! We can’t wait for your return!”
V enlisted in the South Korean military on December 11, 2023, and serves as an active-duty soldier in the military police unit under the Army’s 2nd Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. He is scheduled to complete his mandatory service and be discharged on June 10, 2025.
Despite his military service, V’s influence is still as strong as ever.
According to Spotify, V’s duet track “Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN),” released in November 2023, is still charting strong. The song recently ranked 186th on Billboard’s Global (Excl. U.S.) chart (as of February 15), maintaining its place in the top 200 for an impressive 10 consecutive weeks.
“Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)” was a special gift from V to his fans, recorded before his enlistment, to keep the ARMY connected to him while he served.
Upon its release, the song debuted at No. 99 on Billboard’s main chart, the Hot 100, on December 14. It marked the first time a jazz duet by a Korean artist had entered the prestigious chart.
