V, a member of BTS, is making waves as an elite soldier while fulfilling his mandatory military service in South Korea.
In a heartfelt message shared on Monday through the fan platform Weverse, V gave fans a rare glimpse into his military life. “It snowed here. I shoveled snow and had a snowball fight – I’m pretty good at it!” he shared with a laugh. “I’ve been promoted to second-class sergeant, which puts me second in rank. Soon, I’ll be at the top. Oh, and I’ve recently become an elite soldier!”
The singer also opened up about some of the personal challenges he’s faced. “I dislocated a rib from working out too intensely, but I’m back in action now,” V revealed. “Right now, I’m on a diet and weigh about 70kg (approximately 154 pounds).”
On a more lighthearted note, V shared his new love for reading: “I’ve been devouring books. (Kim) Eana sent me so many – almost too many to finish!”

Adding a touch of humor, V mentioned his sleep habits: “Insomnia is a thing of the past here. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. But waking up in the morning? That’s still tough.”
V also expressed how much he misses ARMY, BTS’s dedicated fanbase: “I miss ARMY so much that I’ve been binge-watching our concert videos. I’m itching to dance and sing again. One of my juniors even learned the entire choreography for ‘Black Swan’ and asked me to check it out,” he said. “But I’ve completely forgotten the moves!”
He ended his message bittersweetly: “It’s a shame I can’t attend concerts right now. They’re such great opportunities to see ARMY. I miss you all so much. Love you!”
V, who enlisted in December 2023, currently serves in a special operations unit with the South Korean military police. He is expected to finish his service and be discharged on June 10.
