Actor Kim Soo Hyun has canceled his participation in the upcoming fan meeting in Taiwan, which was scheduled for March 30.
The event had generated significant attention, as it would have marked his first public appearance since allegations surfaced about his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron during their teenage years. However, according to his agency, the fan meeting has now been called off due to safety concerns.

On Tuesday, Taiwan’s 7-Eleven officially announced via their social media that the Kim Soo Hyun Fan Meeting, initially set for March 30, has been canceled due to changes in the actor’s schedule.
The event coincided with the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival, and organizers stated that fans who purchased tickets would receive a full refund.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, also confirmed the news, telling OSEN, “The Taiwan brand event for Kim Soo Hyun has been postponed for safety reasons.”
Reports suggest that the cancellation resulted in a penalty fee of 30 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately $906,200).
Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron Relationship Allegations Stir Controversy
The cancellation comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron. The scandal began when the YouTube channel Garoseoro Research Institute (Gaseyeon) released photos of the two, reportedly provided by Kim Sae Ron’s family, on March 10.
According to Kim Sae Ron’s family and Gaseyeon, the two were allegedly in a relationship that started in November 2015, when Kim Sae Ron was a minor, and lasted for six years.
Initially, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency denied the allegations. Still, after more photos surfaced of the two together, the agency revised its statement, confirming they had dated after Kim Sae Ron turned 18.

Kim Soo Hyun’s agency issued a statement saying, “It is true that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were in a relationship, but it began in the summer of 2019, after Kim Sae Ron turned 18, and lasted until the fall of 2020.”
The agency also denied claims from Kim Sae Ron’s side regarding a 700 million won (approximately $477,000) compensation demand. They clarified, saying, “The claim was part of a legal process related to the penalty for Kim Sae Ron’s drunk driving incident, and there was never any actual demand for payment or pressure for repayment.”
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency has filed a complaint against Kim Say, the head of the YouTube channel Garoseoro Research Institute, on harassment charges and other allegations.
The Taiwan fan meeting was expected to be Kim Soo Hyun’s first public appearance since the controversy, attracting considerable attention. However, with its cancellation, the drama is likely to continue.
