Seohyun reflects on tears and laughter from her Girls’ Generation memories
Seohyun, the youngest member of the K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation, recalled frequently crying during her time in the group because of the members’ pranks.
On Wednesday, a new episode titled “Seohyun Comes to Straighten Up Hyoyeon (with Casual Talk) / Bapsahyo EP.31: Girls’ Generation Seohyun” was released on the YouTube channel Hyoyeon’s Level Up.
In the video, Hyoyeon reminisced about their past group activities, saying, “When all the older members were together, we could be a bit mischievous.”
Seohyun responded, “That’s true. I cried a lot. I often cried because I couldn’t take the jokes well when I was younger.”
She specifically recalled an episode during a Japan tour on her birthday: “I went to the bathroom in the middle of the birthday party, and when I came back, all the members had disappeared. I felt like I was going to cry.”
However, it turned out to be a surprise birthday event. The members reappeared behind a curtain, creating a touching and unforgettable moment.
Hyoyeon said, “I was really nervous, thinking you might’ve actually left,” recalling the moment. Seohyun added that she has become stronger now, saying, “These days I can joke around too, but back then I’d think, ‘Why are they doing this? Did I do something wrong?'”
Hyoyeon also mentioned a recent encounter in which she suggested Seohyun speak casually. Seohyun then revealed that she now speaks casually with Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Yuri.
She explained that while filming a project, she acted opposite a senior who was the same age, and that experience helped her break the barrier. “Once I broke the wall, I started feeling more comfortable,” she said.
When Hyoyeon jokingly asked Seohyun to speak casually with her, she was visibly surprised when Seohyun responded in casual language.
Laughing at the situation, Seohyun shared that seeing Yoona mix formal and casual speech made her feel like she could try the same.
Hyoyeon then asked whether Seohyun uses casual speech with Yuri, Sooyoung, and Tiffany all the time, and Seohyun replied, “I do in KakaoTalk. Since we’ll see each other for a long time, I felt I shouldn’t miss the timing to switch.”
