In a historic achievement, writer Hue Park and composer Will Aronson took home two of theater’s most prestigious honors at the Tony Awards on Sunday, winning Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. The Tonys are widely regarded as the highest recognition in American theater and musical productions.

Maybe Happy Ending is set in a near-future world and tells the touching story of Oliver and Claire, two helper robots who unexpectedly develop romantic feelings for each other.

This groundbreaking musical is the product of an international collaboration between South Korean playwright Hue Park and American composer Will Aronson. It has been praised for its heartfelt exploration of contemporary themes like robotics and artificial intelligence.

Broadway Debut and Multiple Tony Nominations

After premiering in South Korea in 2016, Maybe Happy Ending made its successful Broadway debut last November at the Belasco Theatre in Manhattan.

At the 78th Tony Awards, the musical earned an impressive 10 nominations, including nods for Best Musical, Best Direction, and Best Original Score.

During the pre-ceremony event, Maybe Happy Ending won three awards: Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Scenic Design, cementing its status as a standout production.
