Reports have surfaced about an international student riding a bicycle naked on the campus of a university in South Jeolla, South Korea.
Around 2 PM on May 22, a photo claiming to depict the current situation on campus was posted on a university student community site called Every Time.
The photo shows a man riding a bicycle, fully naked, heading somewhere.
Many students expressed confusion at the bizarre image, unable to even speculate about what was happening.
Amid widespread speculation, a person claiming to be a student at the school shared a text message they received, which clarified the circumstances surrounding the photo.
According to the text message, the person in the photo is an international student at the university and was found to be exhibiting symptoms of schizophrenia throughout the day.
The administration office then instructed students who were sharing the same dormitory with the man to use other rooms.
Upon learning the full story, people expressed their concerns, leaving comments such as, “Schizophrenia in a foreign land…” and “How hard it must have been for him in a far-off country.”
According to the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station, the foreign student, who is known to be from West Africa, was booked without physical detention on charges of public obscenity.
In the police investigation, the student reportedly stated, “I have schizophrenia. It was an act to relieve academic stress.”
A preliminary drug test was also conducted, which turned out negative.
