A British father assaulted and killed a Russian man who sexually harassed his daughter.
According to foreign media including The Thaiger News in Thailand on the 28th (local time), the incident occurred at a beach resort in Pattaya, Thailand, in the early morning of the 27th (local time).
A pool villa party was held at the resort on that day. During the party, a drunk Russian man named Igor Yasiliev (36) reportedly whispered to a teenage girl, expressing his desire to have sexual intercourse with her.
Witnessing this, the girl’s father, a 34-year-old British man, rushed over and punched Igor in the face.
Igor fell to the floor, hitting his head on the ground and losing consciousness. It’s reported that he was at the party with his wife at the time.
Pattaya police and the medical personnel arrived at the scene at 3:16 AM after receiving a report. They quickly transported Igor, who was lying on the floor bleeding, to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Local police arrested the girl’s father at his house not far from the pool villa and took him into custody.
The girl’s father told the police, “I didn’t know my punch would kill that man. I regret using violence.”
A witness stated, “The two men met for the first time that day. They were both drinking casually until the argument broke out,” and added, “Igor fell hard on the ground after being punched.”
The police said, “An arrest warrant has been issued for the British man, and he is facing charges of assault leading to death.”
A spokesperson for the British Foreign Ministry stated, “We are in contact with the Thai authorities following the arrest of the British man in Thailand.”
