A shocking video has emerged showing a student at an elementary school in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, repeatedly slapping the vice principal across the face.
Adding fuel to the controversy, the student’s mother is also reported to have assaulted the homeroom teacher when she visited the school.
On June 5, the North Jeolla Teachers’ Union revealed, “On the morning of June 3, a third-grader verbally abused and slapped the vice principal who was trying to prevent him from leaving school without permission.”
Along with this statement, the union also released a related video.
The video released by the teachers shows the student slapping the vice principal in front of a classroom.
The student can be heard hurling insults at the teacher, slapping him multiple times, and even biting his arm and spitting at him.
Despite this, the vice principal remained as calm and composed as possible, refraining from using physical force and only stepping back.
The school stated, “The student left school without permission,” and “The student’s mother came to the school and assaulted the homeroom teacher.” The assaulted homeroom teacher has reported the student’s mother to the police on assault charges.
The student in question had already caused problems at his previous school and was forcibly transferred to this school on the 14th of last month. It has been reported that the student had already caused multiple problems even before the video was recorded, including assaulting the homeroom teacher.
Despite their child’s assault on the homeroom teacher, the student’s parents have claimed to be the victims and have reported the teacher to the police several times for child abuse. Other parents from the same class have appealed to the education office for measures to prevent disruption of classes, but no action has been taken yet.
The assaulted vice principal said in an interview with the media, “Since the student transferred here, these kinds of incidents have occurred almost every single day. Yesterday (June 3), the incident occurred while I was trying to prevent him from going home without the teacher’s permission.” He lamented, “I’ve had several meetings with the child’s mother, but she keeps blaming the school’s management.”
The school has defined the student’s actions as an infringement of teachers’ rights and reported it to the Jeonju Education Support Office.
