As the number of pet owners continues to rise, an apartment complex has introduced pet identification tags to prevent outsiders accompanied by pets from entering the premises.
According to Maeil Business Newspaper on June 4, the Gaepo Xi Residence in Gangnam District, Seoul, recently sold pet identification tags to residents to prevent outsiders’ pets from entering the complex.
The sale continued until June 2 and the tags were distributed after verifying that the pets belonged to the residents.
The tags, engraved with the Gaepo Xi logo in orange with a black background, come in two different sizes, for large dogs (Type A) and small dogs (Type B).
The prices are $2.92 and $2.19 respectively with an additional 10% tax charged separately. This cost is known to be included in the maintenance fee.
Pets without tags within the complex will be immediately moved outside the premises. The security team regularly checks residents to ensure they are following regulations.
Last month, the Gaepo Xi Residence’s Life Support Center appealed that “reckless acts such as damaging the landscape and leaving pet waste behind due to outsiders with visitors have been occurring.”
It appears that the distribution of pet identification tags was decided as a measure to prevent this and distinguish between residents and outsiders.
Not only Gaepo Xi but many other apartments have also been embroiled in controversy for banning walking dogs within the complex, leading to ongoing pet conflicts.
Meanwhile, residents began moving into Gaepo Xi Residence in March last year. The apartment complex, consisting of 3,375 units, is known as a luxury apartment complex.
The current selling price of the apartment is known to be well over $1.8 million to $2.7 million depending on the size of the unit.
