Australian Model Bears Child Using Late Husband’s Sperm

An Australian model who became pregnant using the sperm of her husband, who tragically drowned, has given birth to a daughter, shedding light on a remarkable story.

On April 4, British media outlet The Sun reported that 31-year-old Australian swimsuit model Ellidy Pullin recently appeared on a podcast and disclosed details of the process of how she conceived a “miracle” baby through posthumous sperm extraction.

According to the report, Ellidy’s husband, Alex “Chumpy” Pullin, was an Australian snowboarder who competed in the Winter Olympics three times.

He reportedly drowned while spearfishing, a method of fishing that involves diving into the water and spearing fish, on July 8, 2020.

Alex, who was 32 at the time, drowned after holding his breath for too long underwater.

Just a few hours after Alex’s death, Ellidy’s friends and family discussed posthumous sperm extraction. The couple had reportedly been trying to have a baby together.

Ellidy agreed to the posthumous sperm extraction in less than 12 hours and began in vitro fertilization(IVF) six months later.

After two rounds of in vitro fertilization, she gave birth to a beautiful girl, Minnie Alex Pullin, in October 2021.

Meanwhile, posthumous sperm extraction is strictly regulated in most countries. In Korea, there are no clear laws or legal discussions.
