On Halloween night, Itaewon was bustling with revelers enjoying the festivities. Despite the large crowds, people maintained order and celebrated safely.

The Itaewon area in Yongsan, Seoul, was alive, with citizens embracing the Halloween spirit. Although it was a weekday, the celebration drew larger crowds than usual, and visitors prioritized safety throughout the evening.

The streets were alive with colorful costumes worn by locals and foreigners, showcasing their creativity and individuality. Restaurants contributed to the festive atmosphere with Halloween-themed decorations.

Itaewon Remembers

The alley where a tragedy occurred two years ago was filled with chrysanthemums, bottles of alcohol, and photographs honoring the victims. Passersby stopped to read messages of remembrance or clasp their hands in prayer.

While the crowds were not as large as during the weekend, many police officers and firefighters were deployed to ensure safety in case of any unexpected incidents.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and police, the city designated the period from October 25 to November 3 as a special safety measures period for Halloween, deploying 4,200 safety personnel specifically in the Itaewon tourist district.

To prepare for the anticipated crowds, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stationed 3,012 officers in areas such as Hongdae and Itaewon from October 25 to 31.
