A job that allows workers to earn $157 for just three hours of labor has recently garnered attention thanks to a YouTube video featuring Ken, a member of the K-pop group VIXX.
In an episode on the channel Star3_Studio, Ken played a laborer at a construction site. He was tasked with carrying heavy materials like bricks, cement, wood, and plywood. This physically demanding job requires workers to transport materials weighing anywhere from 44 to 132 pounds, often navigating tight spaces without the help of elevators.
Ken’s experience was filmed at an underground construction site without an elevator, where he joined experienced laborers in transporting materials. While the job offers significant earnings—up to 6 million won (around $4,286) a month for experienced workers—it also comes with a high risk of injury.
Ken began the day by learning weight distribution techniques from a veteran laborer. He started by carrying a 44-pound wooden beam, roughly the weight of an 11-year-old child. Surprised by the load, Ken questioned how such heavy materials could be carried. The laborer reassured him, saying, “Your body adapts over time.”
The laborer explained that a typical job lasts about three hours, with workers earning around $165 for their effort. Ken calculated that working 28 days a month could result in about 6.16 million won (around $4,400), a lucrative prospect for the physically taxing work.
However, there are clear drawbacks. The laborer shared a personal experience of injuring his back while working, requiring three days of physical therapy to recover. Despite the physical toll, even beginners in the field can earn between 200,000 won (about $143) and 230,000 won (around $164) per day.
Ken wrapped up his experience by moving plywood and other materials. He acknowledged the hard work involved but expressed his hope that laborers could continue their jobs safely and without injury.
