A woman has been arrested on charges of murder after allegedly killing her 5-year-old son and attempting to take her own life.

On Monday, police in Seoul, South Korea, announced that a woman in her 30s was arrested on Friday for the murder of her child at their home in the Seongbuk district of Seoul.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Friday. Police responded after the woman’s husband reported that the door to their home wouldn’t open. Authorities, along with firefighters, arrived on the scene and found both the woman and her son unconscious.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, and on Sunday, she was arrested after her condition stabilized.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
