A tragic incident occurred in Argentina, where a dog owner lost his life due to the intense loyalty of his pit bull.
According to Página 12, a man was walking his pit bull in Córdoba Province on Monday when he suddenly collapsed, losing consciousness and experiencing seizures.
When a neighbor rushed to help, the pit bull appeared to mistake the gesture for an attack and bit the neighbor on the left hand.
As more bystanders tried to assist, the pit bull aggressively charged at them, seemingly attempting to protect its owner. The dog prevented anyone from getting close, leaving the bystanders helpless.
With no other options, the witnesses were forced to wait for emergency services to arrive.
By the time the ambulance reached the scene, the dog owner had already passed away.
The pit bull continued to act aggressively, trying to attack not only the bystanders but also the paramedics. In the end, local police were forced to fire three warning shots to subdue the dog.
Pit Bull Attacks Spark Nationwide Debate in Argentina
The tragic incident has reignited debates in Argentina over the safety of keeping certain dog breeds, especially pit bulls, as pets.
This controversy has gained traction due to a series of fatal pit bull attacks in recent months.
In October, a dog owner was tragically killed in a separate pit bull attack. Earlier in March, a woman in her 70s was attacked by five pit bulls while mowing her lawn. Despite being hospitalized, she later succumbed to her injuries.
In another case in April, a former police officer in his 60s was fatally attacked by two pit bulls while out for a walk. The dogs, also owned by a neighbor, charged at him, leading to his death.
In response to these incidents, Página 12 reports that Córdoba Province has introduced stricter pet-keeping regulations. Under the new rules, owners of potentially dangerous dogs must now obtain special permits, purchase insurance, and register their pets. Those who fail to comply face potential fines and the confiscation of their animals.
