Shocking new details have emerged about Son Jung Woo, the operator of the infamous child sexual exploitation site Welcome to Video on the dark web, who has been taking legal action against those who criticize him.

On Thursday, Son Jung Woo, who was previously imprisoned for running one of the world’s largest child exploitation sites, filed multiple lawsuits against individuals who have posted critical comments about him online.

According to the report, Son filed complaints with the Asan Police Department in South Korea’s South Chungcheong Province last year, targeting over 100 online posts about him. He claims these posts violate South Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act, specifically alleging defamation due to spreading false information.

Authorities revealed that Son has been systematically gathering 20 to 30 potentially defamatory online posts at a time and filing complaints in batches.

Son Jung Woo Immediately Challenges Decisions Not to Prosecute

In addition, when police decided not to pursue charges against some of the authors of these posts, Son immediately filed objections and demanded that the cases be reopened.

In May 2019, Son was sentenced to 18 months in prison for distributing over 220,000 child sexual exploitation videos to 1.28 million users worldwide, generating nearly 4.4 billion won (about $3 million) in illegal profits.

The Welcome to Video (W2V) site, operated by Son from 2015 to 2018, has been linked to the distribution of horrific content involving victims as young as six months old.

In a separate legal case, Son was handed an additional two-year prison sentence in November 2022 after his father reported him for violating laws related to concealing criminal proceeds.

This unusual action taken by Son’s father is believed to have been an effort to prevent his son’s extradition to the United States. The U.S. had formally requested Son’s return to face a direct investigation into his criminal activities.
