A sitting council member from South Jeolla Province has been found dead in a vehicle, prompting a police investigation.

On Sunday, authorities discovered the body of the 47-year-old council member on a road in Dado-myeon, Naju City. According to police, he was reported missing after dinner the night before and was first located by an acquaintance.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have found no evidence of a crime. Currently, police suspect that he may have taken his own life and are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.

In a related incident, on October 27, another council member was found dead in his hometown of Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province. This member, affiliated with the Democratic Party, reportedly visited his mother in Nonsan and paid respects at his father’s grave the day before he was discovered deceased, suggesting a similarly tragic outcome.
