In a public address on Thursday, President Yoon Suk Yeol spent a significant portion of their time defending the legitimacy of the recent state of emergency declared in South Korea.

Following the South Korean National Assembly’s resolution calling for lifting martial law, Yoon emphasized that he had ordered the withdrawal of military troops.

He questioned the characterization of the events, asking, “How can a two-hour incident be considered an insurrection?” He continued, “Is it considered a riot when a small number of troops are temporarily deployed to restore order?”
