A shocking accident occurred when a person was sucked into the engine of a passenger plane preparing for takeoff and died.
According to BBC on May 29, an accident occurred at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
The plane, KL1341, of the Dutch airline KLM, was scheduled to depart for Billund in Denmark.
As the plane prepared for takeoff, the engine started, and a person was sucked in. The person trapped in the engine died immediately, and the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
The problem was that the passengers and staff on the plane at the time witnessed the scene. There were 104 passengers on the plane at the time.
One witness said, “After a hellish noise, smoke started to appear.”
The Dutch authorities are investigating after getting all passengers and staff off the plane.
Many passengers who witnessed the accident at the time are receiving psychological treatment.
Schiphol Airport, through its official X account, announced, “Today there was a terrible accident where a person died in a plane engine,” and “We send our condolences to the bereaved families and passengers who witnessed the incident.”
Local Dutch media reported that the deceased could have been a staff member involved in the takeoff process.
The Dutch Safety Board has dispatched investigators to Schiphol Airport to ascertain the clear circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, Schiphol Airport is a large airport used by as many as 5.5 million passengers just last month. It is considered a hub airport in Europe.
