When you think of flight attendants, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Most likely, it’s their sleek, polished uniforms and high heels. But hold onto your tray tables because one airline’s crew is turning heads with a totally unexpected look: comfortable pants and T-shirts. So, what’s the story behind this surprising uniform switch?

On Wednesday, Mirror covered a secret uniform revealed by Dani, an Emirates Airlines flight attendant with a whopping 500,000 TikTok followers.

The uniform Dani shared features a red T-shirt with the word CREW printed large on the back, paired with casual striped cotton pants. Simple and practical, this look starkly contrasts the polished, formal flight attendant uniforms we’re used to seeing.

Emirates Airlines is known for its strict, uniform regulations. According to Dani, Emirates flight attendants must wear a red hat when passengers are boarding or deplaning and while moving through the airport. The hat can only be removed during meal breaks. The placement of the hat is also precise—it must sit about an inch (2.5 cm) above the forehead, slightly tilted forward. In addition, there are exact rules for the white scarf, which must drape naturally along the neckline, with the ends neatly tucked in.

It turns out that this alternative uniform is actually the pajama set that Emirates flight attendants wear during their rest breaks. Dani explained, “During long-haul flights, flight attendants change into these pajamas when they take a break.” She also added a surprising detail.

Dani revealed, “If an emergency occurs during the flight and attendants need to jump into action quickly, the pajamas are designed so that crew members can be easily identified, even if they don’t have time to change into their official uniforms.”

Dani’s video quickly went viral, and viewers were impressed, many calling it “a really smart policy.” One commenter praised the uniform, saying, “It’s practical and cute. ” A TikTok user, a former flight attendant for British Airways, expressed envy, saying, “I wish we had these pajamas at my airline.”

Emirates’ glamorous uniforms blend thoughtful details with practicality. So, if you spot a flight attendant in pajamas on your next Emirates flight, don’t be surprised—remember, they need their rest, too.
