What started as a routine flight turned into a white-knuckle ordeal high above the clouds.
According to a report by News.com.au, the Airbus A320, carrying 227 passengers, took off from Delhi at 5:13 p.m. on Wednesday. About 45 minutes into the flight, the plane flew directly into severe weather. Battling turbulence and pelting hail, the aircraft managed to land safely in Srinagar at 6:30 p.m.—but not without damage and panic in the cabin.

Passengers described hearing a loud bang as the plane was struck, followed by violent shaking that caused overhead bins to spring open and luggage to fall into the aisles. Some travelers wept, while others held hands and prayed.
Panic in the cabin—tears and prayers
“I’m still in shock,” said one of the passengers. “We thought it was over for us. I truly salute the captain for landing us safely.”
Another passenger praised the airline’s staff. “We barely made it. I’m grateful for the crew’s calm and professionalism.”
Upon landing, passengers were stunned to see the aircraft’s nosecone—also known as the radome—smashed in. The impact had also left punctures in the fuselage and caused internal damage.
The airline later confirmed that both hail and a bird had struck the plane during the flight, which contributed to the extensive damage.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Srinagar air traffic officials confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe. The aircraft has since been declared AOG (Aircraft on Ground) as maintenance teams begin a full inspection.
