Customer Finds Dead Frog in Cup of Jasmine Tea—and Almost Drinks It

Michelle Kang Views

A premium Chinese tea brand has left consumers horrified after a customer discovered a desiccated frog in one of their jasmine tea products.

The shocking incident occurred after a customer purchased a discounted bundle of jasmine tea from the brand last year. What seemed like an ordinary cup of tea turned into a stomach-turning surprise.

A jasmine tea product from a high-end Chinese tea brand has left consumers in disbelief after a dried frog was found mixed in with the tea’s jasmine petals.

The tea is typically brewed by placing tea bags in a cup and pouring hot water over them, allowing the dried jasmine petals to float to the surface. However, after nearly finishing his tea, the customer noticed a strange mass at the bottom of the cup that looked like a flower petal. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the mass was a desiccated frog tangled with the jasmine petals.

Consumer Shock and Corporate Response

“I didn’t realize at first because the color was so similar to the jasmine petals. It almost went into my mouth, and I nearly threw up,” the customer recalled, visibly shaken by the experience.

The disturbing discovery quickly went viral on social media, raising concerns about food safety standards.

In response, the company acted swiftly, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. The brand contacted the customer, collected both the contaminated product and the frog sample, and issued an official statement confirming that they were in the process of compensating the customer. The company also assured the public that a full investigation of their production and packaging processes was underway, in compliance with food safety regulations.

Once the news spread, online reactions quickly turned to outrage. Comments flooded social media, with many expressing shock and disgust: “This isn’t jasmine tea, it’s frog soup,” “It’s terrifying that it was hard to tell the difference from the petals,” and “I trusted this premium brand, but their hygiene standards are lacking.”

The Chinese tea brand had built its reputation by marketing its products as high-end, emphasizing the use of low-temperature drying techniques to preserve the natural essence of ingredients like flowers, fruits, and herbs. However, the frog incident has severely undermined consumer confidence in the brand’s commitment to food safety and quality control. It has raised serious questions about the company’s hygiene practices and the safety of its products.
