As international condemnation continues over President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to occupy and develop the Gaza Strip, U.S. Representative Al Green has announced his intention to pursue impeachment proceedings.

In a passionate floor speech in the House of Representatives, Green sharply criticized Trump’s Gaza proposal, describing it as deeply troubling. He emphasized the seriousness of the issue by stating, “Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke.” Given his powerful position in the world, he underscored the gravity of such statements coming from the President of the United States.

Green further stated, “Ethnic cleansing has been a crime against humanity,” adding that “The injustice in Gaza is also a threat to justice here in the United States.”

Warning that the president’s rhetoric could escalate into severe human rights violations, Green stressed that this issue goes beyond a mere diplomatic blunder. He then declared, “I rise to announce that the movement to impeach the president has begun,” and confirmed, I rise to announce that I will bring articles of impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”

Trump’s comments followed a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the day before, during which the president expressed his plan to relocate Palestinian residents of Gaza to neighboring countries.

He also stated that the United States would take over the Gaza Strip with the intention of transforming the area into a coastal tourist destination. This proposal has already sparked widespread criticism from the international community.
