Trump says countries “are calling us up, kissing my ass”

U.S. President Donald Trump, pursuing bold trade policies affecting 57 major trading partners, is making increasingly boastful remarks.

According to Politico and other U.S. political outlets on Tuesday, President Trump mocked countries affected by tariffs, saying that every nation hit with tariffs is calling him and “kissing my ass.”

He said that everyone is on their knees begging, saying, “Please, please, sir, make a deal. I will do anything, sir.” He described the situation as good and legendary, praising the effectiveness of his tariff strategy.

Trump’s comments came in response to a Republican lawmaker criticizing his recent trade policy during a National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) fundraising dinner held at the National Building Museum in Washington. The lawmaker expressed concern that the policy might harm the party’s prospects in the upcoming midterm elections.

Trump called Republican lawmakers who oppose his trade approach “rebel republicans.”

He added that some of these “rebel republicans” claim Congress should take over trade negotiations. Trump declared firmly, “Let me tell you, you don’t negotiate like I do negotiate.”

Trump expressed full confidence that he will win the midterm elections, saying he genuinely believes the victory will be overwhelming.

He also emphasized the need to protect the American Dream, stating that defending the American people is his duty.

Reiterating his long-held claim that other countries have exploited the United States for the past 50 years, he insisted that this can no longer be tolerated.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, President Trump announced that he will implement a 90-day deferral on reciprocal tariffs for most countries, applying only a 10% baseline tariff during this period.

However, China was excluded from the deferral list due to its retaliatory measures against U.S. tariffs, including additional tariffs and sanctions against American businesses.
